The article sought to analyze trans women sex workers satisfaction with the quality of social support provided by social services. Through the development of a qualitative research, in which eight semi-structured interviews were carried out with trans women street sex workers, in Lisbon (Portugal), it was possible to identify that they often faced institutional barriers and limitations in accessing social services, as well as with lack of material and emotional support, or with inappropriate or timely allocation of resources by them. The “problematic social support” attributed strongly compromised their willingness of the interviewees to resort to social services again. In this way, it is considered that social services should make efforts to eliminate all barriers that separate transgender, gender diverse and non-binary people from social support, and should avoid oppressive practices and and behaviors that favor secondary victimization processes, with the aim of becoming truly safe and inclusive spaces.
