2019 marks the 330 th anniversary of the birth of Don Blas de Lezo and Olavarrieta. Born in Basque Country, he was a midshipman in the French Navy and a great Spanish Admiral. It is not possible to speak about another sailor who gave his body and soul to serve his country, Spain, as Blas de Lezo did. Forgotten for too many years, it is always fair to pay tribute to someone who, with such bravery, suffered wounds and sorrows for the mere fact of the fulfillment of duty. One-legged, one-armed, one- eyed, he knew how to defend his homeland with 6 ships and little more than 2.000 soldiers in front of the great English armada of Vernon, with almost 200 ships and 24.000 soldiers.
