The sedentary lifestyle and health issues which are present today, due to a lack of physical activity in teenage and school populations, are becoming increasingly serious. In order to investigate this fact, a bibliographical review has been carried out using several data bases. The objective of the present study is twofold: to describe the reasons for abandonment and the reasons why they do not practice physical sport, and to analyze the different factors that influence regular physical activity, such as association sports and motor competence.
The results and conclusions that have been reached indicate that the main reason for the abandonment of physical activity is teenagers’ studies. In addition, there is a positive and significant association of subjects who have a high self-perception of motor competence and are federated. Likewise, as the self-perception of motor competence increases, so does the level of voluntary regular physical activity, school and leisure time.
