This article presents a theoretical analysis, from a systemic and relational perspective, on the relevance of non-human animals in family social work diagnosis and intervention. Drawing on the scientific literature on the human-animal bond, it examines how animals influence family, emotional, and social dynamics. The text addresses their incorporation into professional techniques and tools, their role in family triangulations, and the usefulness of attitudes toward animals as indicators for social diagnosis. The conclusions highlight the need to adapt social work professional practices to new family realities and to systematically integrate this dimension into intervention and future research.
