Efectos de la dieta mediterránea sobre los factores de riesgo cardiovascular

Resumen

Se han modificado los hábitos alimentarios y ello ha contribuido a un aumento significativo de los  factores de riesgo cardiovascular y de la enfermedad cardiovascular, se cree que esta epidemia podría  reducirse con un cambio a un estilo de vida y una alimentación más sana como, la dieta mediterránea.

Objetivo: El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar el beneficio de la dieta mediterránea como un patrón dietético válido para la prevención primaria de la enfermedad cardiovascular.

Material y Método: Estudio de revisión bibliográfica en las principales bases de datos mediante técnica sistemática.

Resultados: En las intervenciones con dieta mediterránea, se ratifica un efecto beneficioso global sobre la presión arterial con reducciones significativas en la presión sistólica, diastólica o ambas  dependiendo del estudio. También se observa un efecto positivo en los niveles de glucosa, HbA1c e  incidencia de diabetes mellitus tipo 2 con un nivel de significación relevante. Con respecto al perfil  lipídico, los resultados son más variables, aunque de forma general se considera que hay una reducción  del colesterol total, triglicéridos, concentración y oxidación de LDL y de ApoB y un aumento de HDL. Los  marcadores inflamatorios tales como PCR, IL6, IL8, TNF alfa, ICAM, P-selectina, también se ven  reducidos en varios de los estudios analizados. Así mismo, la dieta mediterránea ha demostrado ser una herramienta de utilidad en la reversión del síndrome metabólico.

Conclusiones: Tras unas décadas en las que la prevención y el tratamiento de las enfermedades cardiovasculares se centraban en el uso de dietas bajas en grasas, en la actualidad la  dieta mediterránea se está imponiendo como alternativa más saludable al haber demostrado una mayor  reducción de presión arterial, glucemia, perfil lipídico, marcadores de inflamación y daño endotelial.
